The challenge of conserving Inge King's Wodonga Fountain meant piecing an increasingly complicated puzzle together. This was both figurative and literal. The artwork had been painted over multiple times, as our cross-section shows, and finding the sculptor's original intent involved documenting and contacting those who had worked with her in the past. The artwork itself was in pieces, since it was too big and fragile to ship when assembled. Documenting the work did not only involve clambering hulking bits of steel, but also imaging how the whole was assembled from its disparate parts.

Despite the size of the artwork, the result was relatively minuscule: An A3 conference poster. Design, once again, aided me in not only condensing the information we gleaned, but making it interesting enough to stand out.
