Done in conjuction with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, documenting and conserving Ghosts, Toasts and the Things Unsaid presented a series of unique challenges.  Despite being a virtual reality work with sculptural elements, the only items accessioned were a single VR headset and smartphone. All the other plans were design files consigned to museum servers. Despite this, I was able to both access and interpret the files and, with the aid of photography from the exhibition, piece together the original plans for the exhibition.

Conserving this artwork required not only delving into its past, but looking towards its future. The contemporary nature of VR works makes effective documentation and conservation difficult. Despite this, gaps in the documentation that the artists or museum must address before a re-exhibition were identified, and a comprehensive timeline was developed to store the work in the future.
